DESIGN PROCESS

The Design Process

I can offer affordable design services at different levels - from renovation and planting advice to improve the general appearance of your garden, planting plans for borders or problem areas, through to a full design service.

FULL DESIGN SERVICE:

  • The free consultation visit is an opportunity for you to look at my portfolio and discuss your ideas and requirements.

  • A confirmation letter will be sent outlining the discussion and giving a quotation for the design service.

  • A full site survey and analysis is then carried out.

  • An Outline Plan will be prepared for discussion and decisions about materials for hard landscaping, and planting style. Any amendments can be made before preparation of the final Masterplan, complete with specifications for the construction of the garden, and a setting out plan.

  • This Masterplan can then be used to obtain estimates from Landscape Contractors. When a contractor has been appointed I can monitor work in progress and liaise with client and contractors to ensure that the garden is completed to a high standard.

  • Planting plans to suit the growing conditions in your garden can be prepared, recycling existing plants wherever possible. I can also source plants from a quality nursery and supervise the setting out or provide a planting service. Maintenance advice can also be provided to help you care for your plants.

  • As part of my service I am happy to offer follow up visits and ongoing advice where necessary to ensure your garden thrives and matures.

FEES:

Fees for design work will vary depending on the size of the garden and the complexity of the design. Typically fees for design and planting plans for an ‘average size garden’ will be between £400 - £600. Small planting plans start at £50 - £80 and the cost can be offset against the supply and planting which will offer a saving compared to garden centre prices. A large garden design would cost a little more.
