Profile
Maureen
Wilkinson Garden Design is a established company for the
Mid-Sussex area offering affordable and innovative design
services.
I have always been a keen gardener with an artistic streak and
while working as an administrator at the university, I decided
to join the students and change career. Following a two-year
full time course I was awarded a Higher Diploma at Distinction
Level by Plumpton College and an HND in Garden Design by the
University of Brighton,
My aim is to offer my clients a personal and flexible service
to help them fulfil their dream of a garden, which will look
beautiful while meeting functional and practical needs. I am
committed to working closely with clients to meet their
individual needs and budget.
My special areas of interest are biodiversity and
wildflower meadows, which have been developed in several
gardens locally, even in quite small areas. As gardeners we have a unique opportunity to
help improve the environment and provide habitats as ‘safe
havens’ for declining or endangered wildlife. I garden
organically, although I appreciate that this approach may not
suit everyone. My small garden is home to many nesting birds,
butterflies and bees, even frogs. All these delightful
visitors help to keep the unwelcome pests under control and
are a daily source of pleasure.
My
favourite plants are Clematis of which I have many, flowering
throughout the year. Even in the depths of winter there is
always something flowering in the garden which can be very
therapeutic on a cold grey day. The right plants for
the soil conditions and aspect of your garden will help to
ensure your garden looks good throughout the year.
A well designed and attractive garden can enhance the value of
your home but most importantly give lasting pleasure and a
haven in our busy lives.
‘Always remember the beauty of the
garden, for there is peace.’
